Sheila Chung is a hair designer and a makeup artist with experience in print, runway, television, bridal, extensions and salon work. She is dedicated to helping her clients achieve a very personal, true style potential. She does that by building a strong understanding of what people really want to achieve in their appearance--whether it’s for an occasion, an event, a moment in time, even for those who suffer from such disorders as trichotillomania.
Sheila’s uniquely powerful passion for hair design was fostered at a very young age. As a girl, Sheila would spend days at the salon her mother owned in Queens New York, watching her mother connect with her clients and make them beautiful. She would spend those early years playfully echoing her mother’s work by styling her friends hair and doing their makeup. Tragically, however, Sheila lost her mother to cancer when she was just 12 years old.
Though Sheila’s father recognized his daughter’s passion to learn more, he encouraged Sheila to explore other careers. She did, but Sheila never lost sight of her true calling in cosmetolegy. As many as 15 years after her mother’s death, Sheila entered cosmetology school. She took everything she learned from her mother to school with her, even her mother’s favorite pair of scissors, which Sheila still uses to this day. Most important, Sheila carries on her mother’s profound interest in helping people feel and look their very best.
Sheila Chung works in New York City and just opened up her own private salon suite in Garden City, Long Island and is willing to travel.
