Sheila Chung is a hair designer and makeup artist with experience in print, television, runway, bridal, several different types of extensions, and salon work. She is dedicated to helping her clients discover their true style potential—whether it’s for a one-time event, a special occasion, or a new chapter in life.
Sheila also specializes in hairstyling for trichotillomania, a compulsive hair-pulling disorder that causes bald or thin spots. In her private studios, clients with hair loss can discreetly go and get their hair done like everybody else. Sheila also offers creative coverage options, from damage-free extensions to customized hairpieces, that can help clients grow back their natural hair. Sheila’s calling for hair design came at a very young age. As a girl, she spent days at her mother’s salon in Queens, New York, watching her make women more beautiful. In those early years, Sheila playfully echoed her mother’s connection with her clients by doing her friends’ hair and makeup. Tragically, when she was just 12 years old, she lost her mother to cancer. Later, Sheila brought everything she learned from her mother to cosmetology school, even her mother’s favorite pair of scissors. Today, she keeps her mother’s dream alive—sometimes, using those same scissors—by helping people feel and look their very best.
Sheila Chung works out of Salon Ziba Uptown in New York City, and Beauty by Sheila, a private salon suite in Garden City, Long Island. She is also willing to travel.
